11/13 Richwood Graphics, Franklin, has proofs ready and is printing new flyers and stickers.
11/18 Contacted by Rex Alphin, farmer on Blackwater River in Isle of Wight County, about an abandoned boat. Contacted Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries/VDGIF and it was found to be a boat that had got away from folks at boat landing.
11/21 Contacted by Chee Saunders about a $60,000 Supplemental Environmental Project/SEP for Iluka. Logjam removal for increasing herring and shad spawn is what I have submitted as a possible project.
11/25 Contacted by Chris Thomas about streamside shoreline destruction on Nottoway River below Iluka. Property owned by Julie Parsons Boyd.
Jesse Drewry wants to fix up Round Gut Landing. I contacted VFDIF and they said they had talked to him; he had not followed up.
11/29 Three-day patron on Nottoway River below Bronco Club. No water quality issues. Lots of BNRP boat motor issues and boat now in shop.
12/2 Dogwood Alliance sends a preview of infomercial entitled “Our Forests Aren’t Fuel” video. BNRP member Tim McCormick highlighted in video, which emphasized bottomland logging.
* Bi-annual “BNRP Festival” for May 10/Saturday, 2014 at the Bronco Club: Steve Ivey can cater for $14.50/plate with butt plate which will include everything or a whole pig at $700 plus $8/plate for setup. Jeff Turner to ask more specifics, but butt plates agreed to. We will plan on 80 members attending at this time.
* New laptop computer discussed. Refurbished vs. new model has similar 3-year warranty, but refurbished model not always available. Motion by Nancy Turner, seconded by Sherri Woodard, that $1600 to $2100 to be accepted as a line-item for 2014 since the new budget year is near. Motion passed.
* Membership renewal-letters will be mailed after Christmas season so members will not be overwhelmed by the holidays and forget. BNRP Festival invite will be mailed separately in March.
* Jeff Turner received a letter from Virginia’s U.S. Senator Tim Kaine in regard to the approximate $200,000 costs for channel clearing of the Blackwater River from downriver at Franklin, as there is no longer a commercial reason for this expense. Accountability was questioned.
There being no further business, President Newsome adjourned the meeting.
