December 19 Blackwater Patrol

Spirit of Moonpie and I spent the 19th through the 21st on the Blackwater below Franklin. The water was clear and 50 degrees, warm for this time of year. Air temps ranged from 28 to 58 degrees.  With the water temps still in the 50-degree range I really thought I was going to mop up on the fish. Just the opposite was true. Read more →

Spirit of Moonpie and I spent the 10th through the 12th on the Blackwater below the Steel Bridge.  The water was clear, 4.91 on the USGS gauge at Burdette and 47 degrees.  Air temps ranged from 41 to 80 degrees.  Yes, 80 in December, unbelievable, rather nice.  Read more →

Spirit Of Moonpie and I spent the 23rd through the 25th on The Nottoway below Courtland.  The water was high at 8.69 reported by the gauge at Sebrell, fast, clear and 49 degrees.  Air temps ranged from 26 to 50.  Read more →
