Building Stong Mussels on the Nottoway

This is the mussel mission I participated with on the Nottoway. We used the Blackwater Nottoway Riverkeeper pontoon boat as a diving platform and media center.

November 12 Nottoway Trip

Freezing Deer, Spirit of Moonpie & I spent the 12th through the 14th on the Nottoway below the Bronco Club. The water was clear, fast 50 degrees and 7.29 on the USGS gauge at Sebrell. Air temps ranged from 41 to 70 degrees. Read more →

The meeting had 9 members present, with Board of Directors attending as follows: Curtis Newsome, Anne Parker, Jeff Turner, Nancy Turner, and Sherri Woodard.

November 7th Blackwater Trip

Spirit of Moonpie and I spent the 7th through the 9th on the Blackwater below Franklin. The water was 7.66 on the USGS gauge at Burdette, 50 degrees, clear and fast. The dissolved oxygen readings I got at various locations were all above 7 ppm which is very good. Read more →

November 2nd Blackwater Trip

Spirit of Moonpie and I Spent the 2nd through the 4th on the Blackwater above Joyners Bridge. The water was clear, fast, 48 degrees and 7 ft on the USGS gauge at Burdette. I saw no water quality problems on this trip and I picked up one fat bag of trash. Read more →
