Come canoe/kayak the Blackwater River to celebrate designation of the largest one-time addition to the State Scenic Rivers Program – 56 miles of the Blackwater River in Isle of Wight and Southampton counties and the cities of Franklin and Suffolk. Meet at the DGIF boat ramp on Joyners Bridge Road in Isle of Wight County. Bring your lunch and plan to spend the day paddling through tupelo and bald cypress as we wind our way down to the Franklin, VA boat ramp. This trip will also be involved with Clean Rivers Day and annual event sponsored by the Blackwater Nottoway Riverkeeper Program.  It is a fantastic opportunity to see and improve this marvelous stretch of river that is rarely seen.  Participants are encouraged to register for this free event.
